Who Can Hire a Foreign Domestic Worker?

To hire a helper in Singapore, you must meet these basic requirements:

• Age: Be at least 21 years old.
  

• Financial Stability: Be able to afford the helper's salary, living arrangements, and other expenses. We'll consider your family's needs (e.g., young children or elderly care) when assessing your ability to provide suitable care.
  

• Mental Capacity: You must be able to understand and fulfill your responsibilities as an employer. This means you must be able to supervise your helper and ensure their well-being. Serious mental health conditions that impair judgment (like Alzheimer's, dementia, or schizophrenia) may prevent you from hiring a helper.
  

• No Bankruptcy: You cannot be an undischarged bankrupt. In short: You need to be an adult, financially capable, mentally competent to be a responsible employer, and not bankrupt.
