Off-day requirements and compensation

Your helper is legally entitled to one rest day a week.

You and your helper must agree on which day this is. If your helper works on their rest day, you must pay them an extra day's wages.

Importantly, your helper must also have at least one full rest day each month that cannot be worked or compensated for.

This uncompensated rest day can be a full day or split into two half-days.

If needed, this rest day can be moved to the following month by mutual agreement. Failure to provide the required rest days can result in penalties.

Off-day compensation calculation

To calculate your helper's off-day compensation, divide their basic monthly salary by 26 days.

For example: SGD 550 ÷ 26 days = $21.15 day
